Wir warten auf die Fähre nach Lido
(Auf Venedig, denn die Stadt ist ja eine Insel, sind keine Autos erlaubt, aber auf Lido,
eine langgestreckte Insel die noch vor Venedig liegt, kann man mit dem Wagen hin)

We are waiting for the Car-ferry to Lido
(The town of Venice, which is also an Island, does not allow Cars,
but one can take one's Car to another Island called Lido)

Venedig ist ein beliebter Stop für Kreuzfahrtschiffe
(Diese Dinger sind höher als die meisten Gebäude in der Stadt)

Nachdem wir auf der Insel Lido in's Hotel eingechecked hatten,
ging es per Wasserbus zum ersten Stadtrundgang in Venedig
(Es dauerte etwa 15 Minuten um von Lido nach Venedig zu schippern)

After we checked into our Hotel on the island of Lido,
we took the waterbus to Venice for a first look
(It took about 15 minutes to go from Lido to Venice)

... war die Verbindung zwischen dem Gefängnis
und den Verhörungsräumen. Sie heisst so weil die Verurteilten
hier das letzte mal etwas von Venedig sahen bevor sie in den Kerkern verschwanden
The Bridge of Sighs ...
... is situated between the Jail and the Interrogation Rooms.  It was so named because
from this bridge the Convicts saw their last bit of Venice before they disappeared into the Dungeons.
